The holidays are a special time of year, but if you’re not cautious, you can do some major destruction to your teeth. By taking precautions to not open things with your teeth, to eat sweets at the suitable moments and to do what you can to brush thoroughly, you can protect your teeth this season. Here’s some additional data to help you maintain your dental health this season:
Don’t open gifts with your mouth! Though it may be tempting to open presents and foods right away, don’t do it with your teeth: teeth can split, chip or break when you use them to open items. Instead, use scissors and the proper tools for the job.
Try eating sweets around meal times. Because your oral cavity naturally produces spit around meal times, consider consuming any sweets you’ll have around meal times. The additional spit in your mouth will help to clean away cavity-triggering bacterial acids.
Finally, make sure that you’re brushing for long enough by singing the lyrics to a holiday tune in your head. By mentally singing through a tune, you’ll be sure to brush your teeth for the full two minutes that we suggest.
